2012 House Goals

10 Jan

Ahh, house goals. Here’s what I have planned for the coming year … I won’t make myself feel like crap if I don’t get it all done. I won’t make myself feel like crap if I don’t get it all done. I won’t make myself …

Family Room:

Curtains, simple ivory panels will do

Add accessories to make homey. Fireplace mantle needs some help (and to be honest, the fireplace as a whole does as well. Would love to reface it soon, but the tiered mantle presents lots of obstacles)

Kitchen:

Paint touchups here and there

New Dishwasher (last appliance to replace) – and while I’m at it, drink up the wine sitting on the counter

Add electrical outlet in the pantry for microwave

Master Bedroom:

A total overhaul is in the works:

Paint walls and beef up skinny molding

Replace queen bedroom set with a king bed, new nightstands and dressers

New lighting

Chair

Rug

Curtains

Pictures and art on walls

Guest Room:

Paint walls and beef up skinny molding

Move old master bedroom set

New bedding and wall art

Formal Living Room:

Paint

Add picture rail to hang map collection from – I’ve been obsessed with picture molding since seeing this image in Southern Living ages ago:

Old pictures in vintage frames! Striped chairs! Love!

Plan and maybe build bookcases

Make curtains out of this Lewis and Sheron essential stripe fabric:

Entry and Hallway:

New entry light fixture. I’m liking this one:

Add crown molding

Take down chair rail and add nicer molding. Likely board and batten using this tutorial.

Have runner custom cut and bound for hallway

Look for entry rug

Mirror/art/pictures for walls

Replace attic stairs at end of hallway

Would love to add grass cloth above the molding but probably won’t happen this year

Hall Bathroom:

New faucet to replace broken one on the right

Paint touch ups

MISC:

Work on front landscaping

New Electrical in kitchen and family room (happening soon!)

Redo pantry, coat closet and linen closet

Finish front and back doors (weather stripping, missing strike plates, etc)

Extras (if we get to them):

New garage door motor

Clean and organize basement

Reinsulate attic

Replace original sliding glass doors in family room with french doors

Reupholster living room chairs

Well … seeing it all written out makes me feel crazy for believing this will all happen over the next 12 months. We’ll see how it goes!

You have a gorgeous home. Can’t wait to see what you come up with. Your goals are good, practical, doable, etc. Good to find your blog.

You have some great projects lined up. Have you considered painting your fireplace? A few blog friends and I introduced a new challenge idea Monday and it would be so fun if you want to join. If you have a second, check in at http://thespacebetweenblog.wordpress.com/2012/01/09/imagine-the-impossibilities-challenge/ to learn more, and feel free to email me if you have any questions!

Thanks for commenting, Karah! I would love to paint the fireplace, but my husband (like most it seems) is adamantly against it. He has no problem refacing it, but paint is off limits. The challenge looks like fun! Count me in!
